So even consecutive serial numbers might have been made by two very different people assembling the capsules in slightly different ways.Of course, the real authorities at this forum will be able to tell us the whole story.Barry. One person might make the capsule for microphone '1' for instance, while the capsule for microphone '2' was made by someone else. The bodies have consecutive serial numbers but the capsules do not.As I recall when speaking to a Neumann representative some years back. In the case of the Schoeps MK2S I have, they were matched at the factory. There is nothing special unless one has requested special matching. In the past, and probably even now, consecutive serial numbers mean nothing more than they are consecutive serial numbers. Capasitator's' thread starter and subsequent posts were deleted, because, despite several pleas, he refused to identify himself- he thought doing so would invite too much spam into his computer (but of course appreciated the valuable infos he got from people who play by the rules!)I decided to let the thread stand, because nice folks wrote information of much value for the rest of us.Once again, PLEASE use your real names when posting, otherwise the posts will be removed. Thanks,Klaus Heyne.
